Certainteed ridge vent combined with sufficient intake vents such as certainteed intake vent are the most efficient and effective systems you can install. Install shingles as normal up to the base of the plumbing vent. Along the soffit edge of the roof or the facing edge of dormer rakes and goes virtually unnoticed. My roof has had 12 soffits so not as challenged as yours but i added 4 to my siding for exterior foam insulation and didn t want to reduce my soffit size so i extended most of my rafters to get back to 12 and 18 on my dust pan in back. Imo low shingle vents or edge vents will be vulnerable to ice dams which as you probably know can show up even with the best roof insulating installs. It allows air to flow freely through the 1 roof decking slit providing more than adequate soffit ventilation to maximize ridge vent effectiveness.
